Think and Grow Lab was founded by Dani Shaker and Sherri Franklin to promote economic access through forward thinking enterprise accountability and business development technical assistance, forums on industry standards and sustainable design integration, industry specific job training and the formation of capital funds for investment in compliant and market leading cultivation, manufacturing and product development prototype and established companies.


Think and Grow Lab is housed at the La Kretz Innovation Campus located in the Los Angeles Arts District. La Kretz is a natural home for a company working to innovate. It also offers the right tools, resources, leadership and platform to foster the growth of an emerging industry. It provides an opportunity for Think and Grow Lab's thought leaders to readily interact with innovative thinkers and to work within a symbiotic environment that fosters creative energy and leadership for the urban agriculture and cannabis enterprises.  

Think and Grow Lab seeks to drive innovation in urban agriculture and the cannabis industry by bringing together government agencies, industry leaders, practitioners and intellectuals through forums, lectures, think tanks and our virtual online community to foster industry leadership and to provide the requisite technical expertise and resources required to help industry entrepreneurs thrive.

  • Work to drive enterprise development through the facilitation of industry innovations think tanks and the creation of shared source best practice business development forums.

  • Facilitate B to B networking specifically focused on linking LACI's portfolio companies with businesses seeking innovative equipment and technologies designed to meet local and state green building requirements.

  • Facilitate capacity development in the field of urban agriculture by developing industry-specific job and career training curriculums and train-the-trainer modules. Build technology and equipment operations skill-sets within the workforce that can be vertically utilized across multiple fields and enhance the employable base in urban communities.

  • Harvest new market innovators offering solutions for sustainable and technologically  advanced growth potential for cultivation, compliance, media, wellness, retail and product manufacturing companies by providing access to private equity capital opportunities and a wealth of industry specific expertise needed to bring their entrepreneurial visions to fruition.

  •  ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT: Assist African American and Latino entrepreneurs in establishing cannabis related business ventures or partnerships.  

  •  INNOVATION:Serve as a vessel for innovative and sustainable cultivation and manufacturing methodologies, inventions and equipment to be assessed for useful value in cannabis related businesses and made accessible to minority entrepreneurs.

  •  INVESTMENT:Facilitate access to economic investment opportunities in the burgeoning cannabis industry for African American and Latino investors.

  •  JOBS:Provide industry specific cultivation, manufacturing and product management on-the-job-training to persons residing in disadvantaged communities and place workers in living wage, technical and professional employment opportunities across cannabis, urban agriculture and related skill industries.

  •  ECONOMIC PARITY: Assist in developing employee stock option and ownership concepts that can be readily integrated into cultivation, manufacturing and retail business structures.
